Changing Spaces
Project type
Pen and Ink
Date
Fall 2020
This set of works was based on how the ideas of ‘home’ and ‘space’ changed during the pandemic. Through an investigation into architectural accuracy and positive and negative space, these pieces communicate tensions between the past and present, as well as idealism and eeriness. The first image is a rendering of my childhood bedroom with the words "Where Are The People" to communicate how lonely and isolated this place felt to me at the time. I purposefully included things like my backpack and shoes in this image as a bit of irony, as I hadn't used these items since quarantine had began. The second image is of my home. I placed the balloons and whimsical clouds to communicate the contrast that I had experienced, where this place that had welcomed so many of my friends, now felt desolate.
