Bones & All

This piece is an investigation into new ways of shading, using stippling. This was my first time using this technique. Beyond shading, this piece is also a glimpse into human nature. It communicates the idea that when we are all brought down to bone, everyone is virtually the same. Melt away our daily performances, our makeup and clothes, and we find a common ground amongst all humans. I created this piece in the midst of personal struggle with my image, and how I compared myself to others. By artistically rendering this process, it helped me to change my perspective.
